Servers & Data Centers
What you need to know.
When you begin planning out your network infrastructure, the most vital aspect of this process is the implementation of your Server Room / Data Center. These areas will be critical to your companies work flow and could be absolutely detrimental to an organization if they go down. I am sure we have all been in a situation where a server or network has gone down, even for a short while. When your servers are offline, the business comes to a screeching halt and clients / staff becomes frustrated quickly.

A network consists of many devices all interconnected and working together. Most of the back end devices will be housed in a server / data center. These locations usually hold your networks servers, such as domain controllers, file servers, exchange servers, terminal servers, and many more. These servers are responsible for holding your companies data, running critical applications, setting up user accounts, running your email and other features. Its important to make sure the devices are in an environment that enables them to run at peak performance.

Once a network has been implemented, future upgrades and changes are bound to happen at some point. Its important to design your data center with proper cable management strategies. As these upgrades and changes take place over time, patch cords and network cables will be relocated and added. If you fail to add cable management to your server / data center it will turn into a cabling nightmare and could become a massive headache to deal with. This will cost you more money in the long run.

Server / Data Centers also hold other various network equipment, such as switches, routers, and firewalls etc. In the event of a network issue a technician might need to access this equipment. Its important to plan out your server / data center so all devices can be accessed and maintained.

Another key component of any network equipment is heat management. Devices can run slowly and crash if exposed to to much heat. This can be due to a device being placed in a bad location with not enough airflow, near other devices that generate additional heat or if the center is not properly cooled.

Let us help you implement a Server / Data Center that works for you and your companies needs.
